Please read below for more information about the types of cases we support.
Her Justice is not a walk-in service, and most clients are referred to us by community partners. Her Justice cannot accept walk-in clients. This means that you must have an appointment in order to meet with someone at our office.
While we make every effort to match potential clients with a lawyer, we are not able to assist everyone who seeks Her Justice’s services. If we cannot match you with a lawyer, we want to point you in the right direction. “Additional Resources” at the bottom of this page provides Know Your Rights information, step-by-step guides, and lists of free legal and social service organizations who may be able to help.
Her Justice does not provide emergency legal assistance. If you have a time-sensitive legal need, please call 311 or go to lawhelpny.org for a list of legal service providers who may be able to help. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911.

Family and Matrimonial Services
We are able to take cases for:
- Uncontested divorces
- An uncontested divorce means there are no disagreements between you and your spouse regarding financial or divorce-related matters such as custody, child support, and/or division of property.
- For Her Justice to accept an uncontested divorce case, the case must meet these 2 requirements:
- The divorce has not been started by either spouse; and
- There is a valid home or work address where your spouse can be served with the divorce papers.
Completing the online application is the quickest way to receive support.
If you have this type of case, or think you may have this type of case, please fill out our intake application to tell us more about your situation. It’s safe and confidential. La aplicación también está en español.
If you have any questions about our online intake system or any issues submitting an online intake application, please email intake.manager@herjustice.org. We will respond to your email within five (5) business days.
